It struck me from your story that while it's great to trade jobs from time to time, it's also insightful when you recognize just how important those support tasks are (your note about missing your own cooking, for example).Dan N Jayehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17910909942198901223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4490833788146823466.post-22975129237209183412013-01-31T16:25:51.364-05:002013-01-31T16:25:51.364-05:00I used to joke that "sailing is easy, I just ...I used to joke that "sailing is easy, I just drink wine while he drives the boat!".

Well, all that changed when he went back to fill the kitty and I singlehanded for several months this past summer: http://www.somanybeaches.com/2012/08/10/a-love-letter-to-my-captain/Lauriehttp://www.somanybeaches.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4490833788146823466.post-5605521789544825462013-01-21T10:45:34.081-05:002013-01-21T10:45:34.081-05:00For better or worse, I don't have anyone to di...For better or worse, I don't have anyone to divide the labor with, so all jobs on my boat are pink, or perhaps purple.

http://orbisnonsufficit.blogspot.com/2013/01/pink-jobs-andmore-pink-jobs.htmlSuzyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05058819754400979074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4490833788146823466.post-36514879760315810632013-01-12T16:07:41.863-05:002013-01-12T16:07:41.863-05:00Thanx Barb, enjoyed your sense of humor. What I found odd was that two younger women, both serious cruisers, reported the same kind of disrespect (or at least, automatic wrong assumptions about their competence) that you mentioned. I just haven't had that experience. Is it because I'm older? Different cruising area? If we could figure out what I'm doing "right" it could help us all. the SailNet thread is here: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/hersailnet/94977-unleashing-womens-potential-blue-water-sailing.htmlDan N Jayehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17910909942198901223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4490833788146823466.post-46412799828303219982013-01-11T02:59:16.645-05:002013-01-11T02:59:16.645-05:00I love the old picture of the sailor "girls&q...I love the old picture of the sailor "girls"!
